Meet Bradley H. Costello, Esq., Attorney & Counselor At Law

Brad Costello was born and raised in the Western Suburbs of Chicago and has been an active resident of Downers Grove for over 25 years. He earned his Undergraduate Degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and his Law Degree from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago. Brad is an active member of the DuPage County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.

Early in his career, Brad worked for a major national property and casualty insurance company and defended high-value personal injury claims and litigation. He developed considerable expertise in a broad range of cases including: premises liability, animal related injuries, swimming pool accidents, toxic substance poisoning and construction defects. Brad personally negotiated hundreds of settlements directly with plaintiffs and their attorneys and directed the defense of home and business owners in litigation, arbitration and mediation.

After nearly 10 years, Brad was recruited by an international not for profit organization to manage their internal claims division. There, Brad directed and managed all claims and litigation across the United States and Canada in areas such as premises liability, products liability, liquor liability and management / employment liability. He successfully directed the defense in hundreds of cases involving serious bodily injury and death as well as substantial property damage through trial and appeal.

After several years, Brad was promoted and, in addition to managing the claims division, he became president of the company’s captive insurance subsidiary that was financially responsible for the first $1.5 million of each claim. He also assumed responsibility for all company insurance procurement, financial loss allocation and safety & loss prevention. In addition to his duties in risk management, Brad also performed a broad range of corporate legal services for the company and its affiliates including commercial contract drafting / review / negotiation, real estate acquisition / development / sales, environmental remediation, employment practices and corporate governance.

Since 2007, Brad has owned and operated his private law practice serving clients in Downers Grove and surrounding communities where he concentrates in Corporate Business, Contracts, Estate Planning and Real Estate. With his background, Brad understands the considerable time, expense and stress that people face when they become involved in litigation. For this reason, Brad employs strategic risk management techniques to help his clients remain free to pursue their goals and dreams.

In addition to his law practice, Brad and his family regularly perform volunteer community service with the Boy Scouts of America for such worthy causes as Hines VA Annual Wheelchair Games, DuPage County P.A.D.S., Operation Support Our Troops America, Diveheart and Wreaths Across America. Brad is also an accredited U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Attorney and he assists disabled veterans obtain the benefits they rightfully deserve.
